Like it or loathe it…Valentine’s Day is coming!

January is coming to an end, at last!

If you have been feeling more meh than yeah since the start of 2018, there is light at the end of the tunnel. February will soon be here. Which means three things for yours truly:

  1. Pancakes,
  2. Valentine’s Day
  3. My birthday (I’m not divulging how many candles, before you ask!)

I’m sure most of us will love some pancakes (I personally love mine with Nutella and Banana). Some of us may not love Valentine’s Day so much. Yes, I get that not everyone will be in a relationship, so may not feel like joining all the ‘smug’ couples. I also appreciate that it can be quite commercialised, akin with so many other seasonal events during the year. But, even the cynics among my lovely readers would probably agree with this; if they are lucky enough to have a special someone in their life, then surely it is a fabulous opportunity to remind them how much you love them?!

It can be something as simple as writing a heartfelt poem, or letter, to put with some fresh cut flowers on the dining table. Or treating each other to a sensual massage with some lush oils. I really like these ones from Earthly Body,  (pictured in the image above), as they are a nice little trio of three different scents, containing no nasty parabens or other chemicals. They are also vegan-friendly, and glide really well without leaving a greasy residue.

Valentine's Day Just Got Sexier!

Dress up in sumptuous lingerie

Whether you’re single or in a relationship, feeling good about yourself can only be of benefit. Wearing some well-fitting flattering lingerie can do wonders for our body-confidence. Whether you are petite, plus-size or in-between matters not, as there are styles to suit all shapes. Ruffles, lace and bows can focus attention on areas you wish to accentuate. If a figure-hugging basque does not give you the confidence you desire, then a body-stocking or chemise can provide a sexy alternative.

You can be as adventurous as you like with the colouring of the fabrics. Jewel colours look really gorgeous on a range of skin tones. So be as bold as you dare, though if you prefer a more monochrome look, black satin or lace will always be a good option. And guys, you can wear sexy underwear too! Whether you’re heterosexual, gay or bi, wearing something different from your usual boxers or ‘jocks’ will make you even more appealing to your date or significant other.

3 for £15 Gifts, games and sex toys

Be game for a bit of fun

Adding some element of play can help bond you closer. Whether you’re a couple getting to know each other, a long-established partnership, or into threesomes / group-sex, it’s a given.  As you prepare to get more amorous, board games, sexy dice games, scratch cards and position cards are all ideas for breaking the ice. For newer couples, they may take the pressure off having to come up with ideas. If either of you isn’t up for what is suggested, you can always skip a card, or roll the die again.

You could be looking to update your toy-box with some new vibrators / dildos for trying something different. Pegging? Ejaculating dildo? A partner toy that can be worn during sex. Perhaps you are a long-distance couple that like to use phone sex / web-cam sex to keep the embers of  passion alive. Whatever you fancy trying, you’ll be sure to find something here!

Satisfyer’s Succubuzz; the Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration

Is Satisfyer’s Pro Plus Vibration a boomerang?

No, though you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration looks a bit like a boomerang.  Why the odd shape then? It’s a question that puzzles me since I first laid eyes on Satisfyer’s latest clitoris suction product. My theory is that it is to provide more ergonomic ease of handling.

The suction part is also more deeply set into the main unit, than other Satisfyer Pro series models I’ve tried such as the Pro 2, the Next Generation Pro 2 and the Next Generation Pro Penguin. I’m thinking it is Satisfyer’s attempt at protecting the air pulse membrane mechanism from damage when cleaning the unit. I can see that it is easily possible to poke a cotton bud or similar cleaning tool through the membrane, so setting it further back would prevent such damage. Obviously these are my own musings, and if I’m wrong then I am ready to be corrected. I just thought these were two of the main differences between the Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration and other models I’ve tested on this blog.

The air pulse pressure membrane is deep set within the Satisfyer Pro plus Vibration. Its silicone head detaches for easy cleaning.

Another difference is the silicone head that contacts the clitoris. It has a funnel shape, perhaps helping to channel the air pulse sensations down over the clitoris and clitoral hood. The main difference, however is the vibration. Yes, I got to it finally. I was enjoying making you wait for that one (sniggers gleefully).

Do vibrations make the ‘Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration’ more *ahem* satisfying?

Short answer = yes. For me personally, I like power. Hence, as with the previous Satisfyer models, I crank the suction intensity to full power. Then I let it suck the orgasms out of me. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Satisfyer’s range of suction toys, the silicone funnel-shape head sits over the clitoris, and exerts pressure waves over the sensitive flesh. There are 11 intensity settings that can be increased or decreased at will. To do this, simply click the + or – ends of the large rose gold ABS plastic button. The button above that (power symbol) turns the pressure waves on/off.

The lower button (~) controls the vibration settings. There are 10 of these, with the first 3 being continuous vibrations in three decreasing frequencies. I basically only use the first vibration setting, which is the highest frequency continuous vibration.  Patterns do not really work for me. I’ve said it before so I’m not going to spend precious time talking about all the different pattern modes. What I will say though, is that on first impression, the vibration seems to mainly be felt through the handle. But when the silicone funnel comes into contact with the clitoris, I really do notice the vibrations travelling through the head into my flesh.

In fact, the geek side of me decided to use the Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration in the bath, which is something I didn’t really do with previous Satisfyer models. Generally I don’t feel very relaxed sat in my trough-like tub whilst masturbating so usually I play with my toys whilst on my bed. I have to say, I found it quite mesmerising watching the patterns on the water surface caused by the air pulses and the vibration. And the orgasms were pretty darn good too, both in and out the tub!

Pros and cons of the Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration.

Pros:

  • Quick and easy to charge. Magnetic contacts attach without slipping. Light flashes to tell you it is charging then remains illuminated when fully charged.
  • Reasonable length of playtime. On a full charge I’ve thus far had three play sessions averaging about 10-15 minutes each. Still seems to have loads of power left.
  • The suction is powerful at it’s highest setting, without being like a vacuum. I’ve heard horror stories of toys that try to actually claim their owner’s clitoris (I was very scared). For those that want a more delicate touch, the lower intensity settings are gentle, but are still enough to provide arousal.
  • Very easy to clean. The silicone head can be removed for more thorough cleaning.
  • Backlit ‘power’ and ‘vibration’ (~) buttons to aid play in the dark or under the duvet.
  • Not too loud, though I wouldn’t necessarily say completely whisper quiet. Providing there’s some background noise, the whirr of the motors should not be too cacophonous.

Cons:

  • The buttons are a bit ‘clickety.’ They do not operate smoothly, instead giving an audible ‘click’ when going through the differing intensities. Similarly so for the vibrations. This is nothing new, as the other Satisfyer’s I have tried have similar issues. I wouldn’t say it’s a deal-breaker. But if I were looking for something to nit-pick over, then that is my culprit.
  • I do not necessarily think that there needs to be 11 intensities. Some of them seem redundant, such as the first two and a couple at the higher end. I think 6-8 intensities would be adequate.
Bottom line and where to buy:

Perhaps a winged female demon that seduces sleeping men (succubus) is a bit of an extreme analogy for the Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration. But I think you’d have to be basically ‘clinically dead’ not to orgasm with this white silicone bit of wizardry! I’d rate it 9/10, with a mark deducted purely for the cons I stated above.

  • The Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration can be purchased directly from Satisfyer’s site for £52.95 (normally £62.95).
  • If you live in the US / Canada and wish to support my work on this blog, Betty’s Toy Box supply the Satisfyer Pro plus Vibration for $69.95. Use code bettys10 to receive 10% off!

The Satisfyer Pro Plus Vibration was provided to me by Satisfyer, free of charge in return for my honest opinion. What you read are my own thoughts. Presenting… Something Purple!

This post is a dual purpose post. Firstly, I wish to introduce readers to a new company that I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know via social media interactions. Secondly I’m also writing about a travel-sized kit containing some luxury items for a romantic evening or weekend getaway.

Something Purple! are a new retailer of a wide range of adult toys, novelty items and lingerie. They aspire to be sex positive and all-inclusive regardless of sexual orientation or identity, and they offer a genuine and friendly customer service experience. With a product range of 5,000-items, including top brand names Something Purple! are looking to expand the range, based on customer needs and feedback.

In the past couple of weeks, Something Purple! have had a ‘soft’ launch of their website, in order to gain insight from potential customers and members of the blogging community. It will be interesting to see what special offers they have on launch day which I believe is imminent!

I ordered some products to see what the experience was like and to sample the Kama Sutra kit range (see review below). The ordering process was really easy, and my products arrived in perfect condition all discreetly packaged as described on their website. A fab experience!

Kama Sutra Getaway Kit

In exchange for some editorial work on their site, Something Purple! offered me the opportunity to select from their range of products. I thought I’d try something different (and a bit decadent too)! The Kama Sutra Getaway Kit consists of a black toiletry pouch containing travel-sized luxuries. Included are:

  • Vanilla Crème Oil of Love.
  • French Vanilla Crème Body Soufflé.
  • Sweet Honeysuckle Honey Dust with feather duster.
  • Tube of water-based lubricant, Love Liquid.

Also included to create a romantic mood is a small soy candle.

Travel sized oriental delights

Each one of the cosmetic items is sealed to provide assurance that they are new and tamper-proof. The vanilla crème scent of the oil and body soufflé is pleasantly sweet, without being overpowering. The oil of love is amber and has a non-greasy feel whilst enabling your lover to lavish soothing strokes over your skin.

I found the honey dust to be surprisingly different from what I was expecting. My imagination had preconceived that it’d be more crystalline and honey-coloured. In reality, it was a white powder, not dissimilar in consistency to talc powder. The flavour reminds me somewhat of Turkish Delight.

It is fun to let my tongue wander over Mr Bunny’s flesh and lick up the flowery scented dust. The feather duster also doubles as a sensory play item. It is delightfully soft, as it traces sensitive areas such as our collarbones and neckline. I managed to have Mr Bunny in giggles, which always helps us relax into a play session.

Revelling in multi-sensory play

As our exploration of each other proceeded, we used the Love Liquid lubricant which is compatible with natural latex and polyisoprene condoms. It should not be used with polyurethane condoms however, as it is not compatible. The lubricant glides well, and did not seem to dry out too quickly.

Make a getaway with pleasure

Despite the kit being £35.99, it represents reasonable value, and provides a good base to explore a range of the Kama Sutra branded products, before buying the full-sized versions. It feels lovely being able to take the time to indulge each other after a busy festive season. If you would like to treat yourself and your significant other, pop to Something Purple! It will give you a much-needed lift in the dull January we are currently experiencing.

#SoSS; January blues and winter warmers

Saturday 6 January 2018

It’s the first Saturday in January 2018. I am excited to be typing up my first blog post on a new laptop. Do I look excited? Probably not. That’s because I’m sat in my spare room with grey light peering in through a North-facing window. It’s bleugh for want of a better word. The pretty frost has thawed too.

But, if I look into a different window, the one on my screen I see much more promising stuff. Cousin Pons shares with us a cheeky glimpse of his blue socks framing his manhood in his most recent Sinful Sunday post. I like the ‘burnt edge’ border too.

A review I am keen to share this week is the Satisfyer Pro 2 (original model not the Next Generation) from Zoë at Sex Is My New Hobby. The reason why, is because she has worked out what stimulation she requires from her toys and the Pro 2 simply does not deliver it for her. It emphasises that no two people with clitorises will respond the same to pressure-wave technology.

I applaud her honesty, and it’s important for sex bloggers to be up-front about what they like or dislike about a product. That way, the company manufacturing said product can take a new approach (if necessary). Alternatively, they can refine the technology if it works for the majority. Either way, improvements can be made. For people who feel the same way as Zoë, they don’t need to feel alone that a product does not work for them.

My last snippet for sharing this week, is a short story from Livvy Libertine. I like yoga. I’m no marathon runner. I don’t even run for a bus (not that I take the bus on a regular basis). But as I read this story, I felt my pulse quicken at the description of the sexual encounter between Liza and Beth. Never have I ever had a same-sex encounter. But this story makes me wonder if I’d like one. I think I would. In any case, on a cold January morning, it made me feel a lot warmer picturing the scene!

I keep these posts short and sweet, because I could spend hours looking at other bloggers’ work. My aim is to find something different each week to talk about.  Until next week, keep on Sharing our Shit!

Je Joue Ami+ Kegel exerciser

It has been a while since I posted a review for an item I purchased myself. I already have a few sets of kegel balls, and they vary in their weight and material of construction. I decided to try the Je Joue Ami+ Kegel exerciser as it differed from all the other duo-ball design toys that I’ve previously tried. Instead it is a single hourglass shaped ball, made from soft silicone. Je Joue Ami+ is for the intermediate kegel exerciser, as it weighs 136g. For beginners, Je Joue recommend their 3-step Ami ball kit.

The Je Joue Ami+ kegel exerciser is not a budget exerciser like some of the other ones I own. It  does represent good value at £19.99, though as it comes packaged in an attractive teal-coloured outer box. Inside, is a black box with lid, that contains the Je Joue Ami+ and an instruction booklet.

Warming up

As far as exercise goes, warming up for training your pubococcygeus (PC) muscle is as simple as coating the Je Joue Ami+ in water-based lubricant. Then gently slide the kegel exerciser into your vagina. Really simple so far. I like the design of the Je Joue Ami+ as it feels more substantial than other kegel exercisers I’ve tried. By that, I don’t necessarily mean it’s larger. Because essentially it isn’t.  What it is though is a good shape for maximising the benefit of exercising a set of muscles that can be quite tricky to engage. The instructions recommend wearing the Je Joue Ami+ for anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour on a three -four times a week basis. So it is really easy to incorporate into daily routines. The instruction booklet gives two examples of exercises you can attempt with the Je Joue Ami+.

  1. Squeezing your PC muscle around the Ami+ for 5 seconds, then releasing for 5 seconds. This exercise can be repeated for a total of 10 squeezes, before taking a minute break. Then do another set of 10 repeats as before. Rest for two minutes, before doing a third set of 10 squeezes. As with any exercise, when it starts to feel too easy you can try three sets of 15 repetitions.

2. This exercise is more advanced, and involves sitting on the edge of a bed or chair, whilst the Ami+ is inserted. Use the retrieval cord to gently pull on the Ami+ whilst you squeeze your PC muscle to resist it falling out. Hold the squeeze for 5 seconds, relax for 5 seconds then repeat for a total of 10 repetitions. Take a one-minute break before repeating another set of 10 5-second squeezes. After a further 2 minute break, do a third set of 10 repetitions. As with the first exercise, when you decide you wish to progress, you can increase up to 15 repetitions for each set.

Kegel training

So far I’ve attempted the first exercise, which I plan to stick with for a few weeks in January before progressing onto the second exercise. Now that I’ve gone through a pregnancy I really wish to train my PC muscles. There are so many benefits, including enhanced vaginal sensitivity, better urinary control and enhanced natural lubrication of the vagina. In an ideal world I would have trained my pelvic floor better before and during my pregnancy. Like a lot of things in life, it’s better to start as early as you can, but later is fine too.

Cleaning the Je Joue Ami+ kegel exerciser is simple. The silicone has no seams for any ‘gunk’ to wedge into. I use either antibacterial soap or a sex-toy cleaner and water, then leave the air dry. The silicone is not as lint-grabbing as some other silicone items I own. Which I see as another plus for the Ami+! Overall I’d rate the Je Joue Ami+ 10/10 based on it’s ease of use, aesthetic appearance, and the health benefits of using it.

Reflections on 2017 and plans for 2018

Lots of fellow bloggers will be summarising what they got up to in 2017 and  their goals for this year. In a similar vein I will share my reflections on 2017 and plans for 2018.

For me personally, 2017 was a year of ‘trying out’ sex blogging. I didn’t necessarily have any grand plans and kind of went with the flow, as it were. My earlier reviews were perhaps not as detailed as later reviews. Much of this was due to the fact that I was wanting to simply post as much as I could about a range of toys I already owned. Not necessarily a bad thing. We all have to start somewhere! Up until April I had only tested toys and lingerie for Lovehoney. I then became a bit braver, and started making enquiries with companies that I had either bought from or interacted with via Twitter.

Thereafter, I have tested toys for Tantus, Betty’s Toy Box, 4Playsure, E-Stim Systems, Satisfyer and So Divine. It has been great connecting with some lovely people at the above companies. They’ve had the confidence in me to provide them with reviews. I honestly feel that their taking a leap of faith in my fledgling blogger skills has made me hone my critical thinking when reviewing toys. I’ve joined some affiliate programs, and whilst it is a competitive market, I’m happy that I have had some followers support me when making their purchases. I hope they have had lots of fun with their goodies, and I’d like to thank them all for sharing their faith in me.

Aside from the reviews, I have also attempted to write some erotic fiction. The stories have varied in their content and theming, with some fantasy and bdsm. Voyeurism has also featured, in a shorter extract. I think my writing is hopefully getting better and more engaging. Moreover, I have been lucky enough to share some stories written by some of my readers. These have typically been of the theme of a submissive male meeting with a Dominant female.

Getting involved in the blogging community

The site currently ranks #227 on Kinkly’s Sex blogger ranking charts. It peaked at #221 when the Top 100 Sex bloggers of 2017 contest was running in October. I was happy enough to rank on Kinkly’s list, and I’d like to improve the score in this year’s contest (after all, as Yazz told us the only way is Up!)

I have joined Cara Sutra’s Pleasure panel and so far have written 7 reviews. My wish is to continue writing reviews for the Pleasure Panel, and support Cara’s work by remaining a Patreon.

December saw my site turn 1 years old. I hosted my first giveaway, supported by a company that has held the biggest influence on my becoming a sex blogger.  As we delve into 2018, I wish to continue providing reviews, and developing some more erotic fiction. Networking is a big part of blogging I have come to realise. I’m going to be attending Eroticon in March for the first time. Though feeling slightly daunted by the prospect  I aim to make the most of the experience. I plan to chat to as many other bloggers as I can, share ideas and learn more about the industry as a whole.

So without further ado, on with the blogging. Which this month will be fuelled by Christmas leftovers and copious warm beverages in my fab new mug!
